Nunes appoints Safra Catz to Artificial Intelligence Commission

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes has appointed Safra Catz to the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence.

Ms. Catz is the CEO of Oracle Corporation and has served on the company’s board of directors since 2001, having previously served as Oracle’s president and chief financial officer. She is also a director of the Walt Disney Company and previously served as a director of HSBC Holdings plc.

Created by the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2019, the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence is responsible for reviewing advances in artificial intelligence, related machine learning developments, and associated technologies in order to maximize U.S. competitiveness, as well as reviewing related ethical issues and the national security and defense needs of the United States. The Commission is tasked with presenting its findings and recommendations both to Congress and to the President.
